What I’m Loving Today! #2

What I'm Loving Today!

It’s Friday…and it’s snowing…again.  Hopefully the last snow of the season.  In protest of winter I took a sick day today (cough cough 😉 ).  Actually it’s supposed to snow all day but not really stick to the roads but I didn’t want to chance it so I said screw it…sick day.  Great day to catch up on things and my work place has a use them or lose the policy so.

What I’m Loving Today:

Today is also the first day of spring!!  Yay!  It’s been teasing me for some time now.  I feel the warmer weather calling my name.  Beach season soon.  Spring colors in my wardrobe.  The whole thought of it makes me happy.

Since I am ‘sick’ today I get to turn into the Today Show!  I love this show.  It’s light and fun and I enjoy the anchors banter.  I used to get up and ready for work as soon as I heard the NBC ‘ding ding ding’ at the beginning of the Today Show when I lived about 5 minutes from my old job but now that my new job starts earlier and my commute is almost an hour I hardly get to see it.  If I hear the opening chime now I know I’m running late!

This is my current facial cleanser and I love it!  I have pretty oily skin and this makes my face feel so clean.  You wet your skin, pump out a little on your fingers, rub your hands together to lather it up a bit, wash and rinse.  It feels fresh and rinses clean.

4. THIS RECIPE: Chopped Thai Salad with Coconut-Curry Dressing

The hubs and I have been really good about planning our meals and grocery shopping on the weekends so we are good to go during the week.  We’ve been using the recipe app ‘Paprika’ to store and organize the recipes (that will be another post!).  Yesterday he made ‘Chopped Thai Salad with Coconut-Curry Dressing‘ from the blog ‘The Wicked Noodle‘, which of course I found via Pinterest.  We were a little skeptical since we haven’t always had the best luck with kale but it was amazing!  The dressing especially we would make again and again for other items as well.  It was so tasty and so healthy and pretty filling for a salad!

I have had a Fitbit for about a year and a half now.  I first had the Fitbit Force, which was recalled because it was causing a rash.  I never turned it in because of recall since it didn’t affect my skin.  However after almost a year it broke and I turned it in then under the recall and with no issue received a cash refund.  Right away I went and bought the Fitbit Charge, which had just come out.  Love it!  This one is pretty much the same as the Force with a few added features my favorite being the caller ID.  So when someone calls me it buzzes my wrist and shows who is calling.

A few weeks ago I noticed that my Fitbit back was coming off.  It was weird because it was broken in a way that the Fitbit never bends.  Anyway, I filled out a form on their website and sent a photo of what happened and within a week they sent me a brand new Fitbit, no questions asked.  I love this company’s customer service.  I’ve had friends that have contacted them about different issues and they have all had their’s replaced.  I have a great story about my dad and the Fitbit he received from me as a Christmas present.  That will be for another day.

What I’m Loving Today! #1

Today is Saturday.  It’s the second weekend in a row where I feel trapped in my own place because of weather.  If it’s going to snow I would much rather have it on a weekday so I can have a snow day off of work.

That being said there are so many wonderful things happening today.  Here is what I’m loving today:

I love these things!  I usually get one or two a season because they are NOT good for you.  They hold a special place in my heart because when we lived in North Carolina they were really hard to find (although I think that has changed).  The hubs went out right as it started snowing to grab a quick McDonald’s lunch and (ta da!) a Shamrock Shake!

I actually don’t like snow…let me rephrase that…I don’t like driving in snow.  If I don’t have anywhere to go then bring it on.  We haven’t had a ton of snow in Lancaster County this year but enough to make it annoying.  Today is the most snow we’ve had and we have no where we need to be…that’s when I love it!

I love my Scentsy warmers and the fall and winter scents are my favorite.  Today I am warming the scent ‘Everything Nice’ and it smells so good and cozy, just as a snowy day should.  Although hubs just brewed beer so that is ‘altering’ the cozy smell, depending on who you ask. 🙂  *Disclaimer, I do sell Scentsy products.

So the hubs brewed beer today.  Which is awesome!  I think he brewed a Nut Brown Ale.  Beer and snowy days kind of go hand in hand for us.  One of the best things when he brews beer is the spent grain bars he makes when he is done and a fresh batch just came out of the oven.  They are pretty healthy, loaded with fiber and the dog drools over them too!  Here is the recipe I posted on another blog site I’ve dabbled with.

With the temps hovering around zero the past few weeks, our apartment was totally drying out.  Hubs constantly shocked himself when touching light switches and then touching me or the dog.  I always told him it was because he was wearing flannel and covered in a fleece blanket.  But a few days ago I started getting shocked by everything as well.  Even the dog cowered when we went to pet her because she could feel the static electricity coming her way.  So the other night we bit the bullet and went out to get a humidifier.  I did some quick research before we went and narrowed it down to three possible candidates.  When we got there they only had two left and needless to say we purchased the one in the busted up box along with a humidifier gauge.  Worked like a charm!
